Fashion designer Ralph Lauren (born Ralph Lifsch) launched the Ralph Lauren label in 1967 when he got a $50,000 loan. 

The following year Ralph launched a range of men's ties and by 1969 he had a small concession within the department store Bloomingdale's.

In 1971 the brand re-invented their classic men's tailored shirt line for women and launched their first womenswear collection with the iconic Polo player motif making its debut on the cuff of the ladies shirts.

A decade later and the brand became global and in 1993 the Polo Sport line was introduced to represent the lifestyle part of the brand.

Today Ralph Lauren are market leaders in the supply to retail of high-end, luxury, clothes, accessories, sunglasses, fragrances, home and other lifestyle products.
