American company Polo Ralph Lauren is one of the market leaders in the supply to retail of high-end casual clothes for men and women, accessories, fragrances, home and other lifestyle products.

Fashion designer Ralph Lauren (born Ralph Lifsch) launched the brand in 1967 when he got a $50,000 loan. In 1968 he launched a range of men's ties and by 1969 he had a small concession within the department store Bloomingdale's.

The brand launched its first womenswear collection in 1971, re-inventing the classic men's tailored shirt line for women. The Polo player motif made its first appearance on the cuff of these shirts, and has been present ever since.

A decade later and the brand became global and by 1993 the Polo Sport line was introduced to represent lifestyle.
